Steak 44

Steak 44

Biter Score9.7

Flavor Report: Steak 44 – Phoenix During my visit to Steak 44, the polished, upscale steakhouse vibe was immediately apparent—busy when we arrived, but still energetic and well-paced, setting the tone for a great night. I ordered the ribeye, medium rare, which landed at a 9.6/10: beautifully cooked, rich, and deeply flavorful. The standout of the entire meal was the Shells and Cheese, an easy 9.9/10 and without question the best mac and cheese I’ve ever had—luxurious, perfectly balanced, and unforgettable. The asparagus fries came in at an 8/10, crisp and satisfying with good contrast. I paired everything with an interesting red, Domaine Les Pins Bourgueil Cuvée Les Rochettes, which didn’t quite match the food’s level at a 6/10. Taken together, the overall experience scored a 9.7/10—excellent food, strong atmosphere, and a memorable night. I’ll definitely be back.

Joe's Diner

Joe's Diner

Biter Score9.2

Flavor Report: Joe’s Diner – Phoenix Wow, Joe’s Diner is a true hidden gem and easily my new go-to breakfast spot. The biscuits and gravy were a straight 10/10—the biscuit might honestly be the best I’ve ever had, and the gravy was phenomenal. I’m not usually a big sausage person, but even the sausage patties were amazing. The bacon was cooked perfectly, crispy without being overdone, and the pancake was soft, buttery, and exactly what you want from a classic diner breakfast. What really took the experience to another level was the service—I swear Joe himself was walking around checking on everyone and asking how their food was, and you just don’t see that kind of hospitality anymore. Overall, an incredible 9.2/10 experience and absolutely somewhere I’d recommend to anyone visiting Phoenix who wants a memorable, old-school breakfast with genuinely great service.

Flavor Report: China Chili – Phoenix During my visit to China Chili in Phoenix, the classic, no-frills atmosphere kept the focus exactly where it should be—on the food—and it absolutely delivered. I ordered the Orange Chicken with rice and lo mein, and the meal earned a strong 9.1/10. The orange chicken was quite possibly the best I’ve ever had—perfectly tender on the inside, crispy on the outside, and coated in a sauce that was bold, balanced, and genuinely to die for. The lo mein somehow matched that energy, easily the best lo mein I’ve ever had, rich, savory, and cooked exactly right. Service was impeccable and fast, and the pricing makes this spot even more impressive—it won’t break the bank for food at this level. Everything clicked here, and I will absolutely be back.

Flavor Report: Dominick’s Steakhouse – Scottsdale During my visit to Dominick’s Steakhouse, the entire experience delivered, earning a strong 9/10 overall. I ordered the crab cakes with crème brûlée corn, and the crab cakes were buttery, rich, and cooked to perfection, while the corn was absolutely to die for—creamy, sweet, and ridiculously good. The asparagus fries are seriously underrated, perfectly crispy and even better with the sauce they serve alongside them. The mac and cheese was another standout, incredibly creamy, cheesy, and indulgent—exactly what I want from a steakhouse side. Beyond the food, sitting poolside was magnificent and gave the restaurant an upscale, memorable vibe, while the great service tied everything together. Excellent food, beautiful ambiance, and a 9/10 experience—I’d absolutely return.
